The Limpopo Christian College (LCC) situated in the Limpopo Province, owes its establishment to the deep awareness of the need for the advancement of ministry and development-related education and training initiated by the Limpopo Christian College Vocational School (hereafter the Vocational School).

The Vocational School demonstrated that it stepped into an education and training space that served the province, the greater region, as well as South Africa, well by the provisioning of a QCTO-accredited NQF 5 Occupational Certificate:  Christian Religious Professional (SAQA ID 101571). The success rate of students in this programme is a demonstration of the sustainability of the Vocational School and guided by the impact these professionals had on their communities, the desire grew in the leadership of the Vocational School to extend the scope of programmes.

To facilitate the implementation of the mentioned awareness, the LCC was established to take forward the excellent work done by the Vocational School by embarking on the application for qualifications and programmes forming part of the Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework  (HEQSF) and quality-assured by the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) of the Council on Higher Education (CHE).

The intent of this growth and development plan is not only to enhance the offerings, but also to widen access into higher education in fields that are currently underrepresented in the Limpopo province.  The Vocational school will be incorporated into the LCC and continue to expand its occupational and vocational qualifications where deemed relevant to provincial needs.

Higher certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas forming part of the revised HEQSF will form part of this growth and expansion.  The LCC will focus its efforts on degrees, postgraduate diplomas, honours-, master’s and doctoral degrees.

To provide an academically sound environment, the LCC has a formally designed Quality Management System that will align with the Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) and Higher Education Practice Standards (HEPS) of the CHE.  Further to this, the LCC will be supported by a well-designed management information system (MIS) and learner management system (LMS).  This will ensure that management information and learner records are safe and secure and sound and swift quality decisions can be made by the management structures.
